Feminist Quotes to Teach to Your Kids

Feminist Quotes to Teach to Your Kids
Feminism is everywhere. People are becoming more and more aware of the concept, which has increased the odds of gender equality in our society. Many parents are adopting feminist parenting strategy to raise their children strong feminists and there are a gazillion reasons why you should too. I was playing with my niece in our backyard the other day with our neighbor’s kids. While playing on the outdoor playground equipment one of the kid’s got into a fight with my niece. My niece, the bad blood, prepared for a fight. The other kid jumped in and said something like “She’s a girl, she wouldn’t know how to kick ” to the other kid. This reminded me of Victor Beltran’s sexist remark made on the Master Chef junior:

“My goodness, I’m surrounded by girls, and girls already know how to clean because of genetics.”

I don’t know where that came from, but it certainly does not make me feel good about the way parents approach the subject of gender equality. At the end of the day, it’s the parents’ responsibility to teach kids equality.

Here are the quotes from one of our favorite celebrities about feminisms.

All men should be feminists. If men care about women’s rights, the world will be a better place. We are better off when women are empowered — it leads to a better society.” – John Legend

“[My mother] really was an extraordinary, inspirational, tough, cool, sexy, funny woman. And that’s the kind of woman I’ve always surrounded myself with, my friends and particularly my wife, who is not only smarter than and stronger than I am, but occasionally taller too. I think it also goes back to my father and my stepfather, because they prized wit and resolve in the women they were with above all things and they were among the rare men who understood that recognizing someone else’s power doesn’t diminish your own.”— Joss Whedon

I’m attracted to films that have strong female characters because there are strong female characters in my life.
